Are you eating enough?

Jul 19, 2019

Calories In vs. Calories Out

The basic idea of weight loss is that in order to lose weight you must consume less calories than you expend. For those of you that are not familiar with this, calories are the energy that we get from food as well as the energy our body uses to live. So, we need to be giving our body energy as we use it. However, if we want to lose weight, we can eat a few less calories and/or burn a few more with activity, forcing our body to use what it already has stored (usually fat).

Most of the time, this basic equation works for weight loss. But, sometimes, it doesn’t…

The Performance Plate

Aug 10, 2018

What you eat is just as important to your training regimen as the workout you have planned for the day. This applies to everyone; recreational exercisers to elite athletes.

Not only is it important to choose the right foods but also the right amounts of each depending on where you’re at in your training cycle. The goal is to make your plate reflect the day’s training.

15 Benefits of Exercise That AREN’T Related to Losing Weight or Looking Good

Dec 1, 2017

It can get a tad bit annoying when I hear people talk about how they choose not participate in physical activity. There’s a never-ending list of excuses: I don’t need to lose weight, I don’t have time, I don’t want to look muscle-y, or they just don’t think it’s going to benefit them.

Like seriously?! You think you don’t need this in your life?! Well, I’m about to tell you why EVERYONE needs to be physically active.

This is an addition to a post from two years ago. The first post I did wanted to take a step back from the science and the statistics and scale that back to make it personal; letting you know how exercise may directly impact you. The first ten reasons can be found here with few added notes and then the additional points below those.

The Basics – Getting Familiar with Nutrition

Jun 16, 2017

Fri-YAYYYYY!!!

Last week I held my first nutrition education session, and last night the second. Two down, four to go (but it’s not too late for you to join us! 😉 )

If this content interests you consider coming to a class or I may even record my classes or make PowerPoints with audio available for those that can’t attend classes. Please, please, PLEASE, let me know your opinions. 🙂
