The first thing that probably comes to mind when you think about asking someone for help related to nutrition is weight loss. That is true, I can definitely help if you need to shed some extra pounds, however, my skill set expands much further than that. On the other end of the spectrum, there are those that wish to GAIN weight and have trouble doing so. I’m going to assume that when it comes to weight gain, most of us would like to gain muscle over anything, and there are specific strategies to do just that.
The most obvious way to promote weight gain is to simply eat continuously. Unfortunately, that has the potential to make us feel incredibly uncomfortable and probably leads to more fat than muscle gain. We should be shooting for at least 500 calories more than we’re burning each day. This can provide a modest calorie increase without making us feel too miserable.
Did you know that one of the most important things you can do to help your body recover from exercise is to eat the right foods? With proper post-workout nutrition, you can replenish the energy you’ve used as well as promote muscle building.
Chronic diseases are among the most preventable of disease, yet account for 70% of deaths among Americans each year. The cost of chronic disease far exceeds normal health costs, so why are we not prioritizing our health?
So the new tagline for the website and my brand is “Fueling every level of athlete.” So who is an athlete?
I did a nutrition seminar at the beginning of the month and one of the questions I got really made me stop and think. I was talking about the plethora of misinformation available in the media when it comes to nutrition and was asked, “Where would you suggest we go to look for good information?” I really had to take a second and think about it. Was there one place on the internet that I really trusted to get it all right? Was there one place I could feel comfortable sending these people to get additional information? Unfortunately, I really couldn’t think of anything.
So how did I answer…
What you eat is just as important to your training regimen as the workout you have planned for the day. This applies to everyone; recreational exercisers to elite athletes.
Not only is it important to choose the right foods but also the right amounts of each depending on where you’re at in your training cycle. The goal is to make your plate reflect the day’s training.
As of next week I’ll be participating in a fairly strict nutrition challenge. Monday is quickly approaching and I slightly began to panic. The nutrition chick, panicking about a nutrition challenge?! Yeah, it’s a thing.
I started thinking of a few things that I knew would be beneficial to do before the challenge started, and then I got to thinking even more… I’m sure other people would find this helpful too, so now, my solution to my own problem has turned into a blog post!
Hey all!
A few months back I posted about a nutrition course that I was offering in the office that I work in. The feedback I got from that was that I needed to do another session, in the fall, when people were less busy. Well, being that I’ll be officially starting my masters program in just a few short weeks, fall is not exactly the most ideal time for me to be taking on extra projects. That doesn’t mean I gave up on the idea entirely though! I had the equipment, and a few extra hours, to be able record and upload all of the content that I presented during the six-week course.
Fri-YAYYYYY!!!
Last week I held my first nutrition education session, and last night the second. Two down, four to go (but it’s not too late for you to join us! 😉 )
I am actually having fun going through all of my resources, preparing, and teaching these classes. Based on my love for spreading information about health, and a client request, today’s post is going to include my PowerPoint from the class as well as my notes, or anything that I emphasized.
If this content interests you consider coming to a class or I may even record my classes or make PowerPoints with audio available for those that can’t attend classes. Please, please, PLEASE, let me know your opinions. 🙂
Hey there! To “celebrate” Thursday and also make fun of my own grammar pet peeves. So, a while ago I posted about Abs So Fruitly being a business and the services that were being offered. Well, starting in just one week, I’m going to be teaching some basic nutrition classes...
